  Amphotericin B Amphotericin-B is used to treat Mucormycosis, also known as Black Fungus, which damages the nose, eyes, sinuses, and sometimes even the brain.Amphotericin B is an antifungal medication. This medicine is used to treat or prevent fungal infections including aspergillosis and candidiasis.Patients receiving amphotericin B may have regular blood draws to check electrolyte levels in the blood and monitor liver and kidney function. Five drug makers have received approval to produce Amphotericin-B, the drug used in the treatment of mucormycosis and whose shortage is the latest worry for India with an increase in the number of people contracting the rare fungal infection.Emcure Pharmaceuticals, Natco Pharma, Gufic Biosciences, Alembic Pharmaceuticals and Lyca Pharmaceuticals have secured the new drug approval for producing it in the country.
